The Yokomo Rookie Speed RS2.0 Electric Touring Car Kit w/Aluminum Short Shock Conversion is an excellent choice for new and experienced hobbyists looking to enter the racing scene, offering both performance and affordability. Its chassis is constructed from durable resin for both the main plate and upper deck, ensuring a smooth and stable ride with reliable traction. This lightweight material enhances handling and control, making it easier to maneuver. The chassis also features a sturdy aluminum motor mount that supports both brushed and brushless motors, promoting efficient heat dissipation and long-term durability. Additionally, the adaptable battery holder accommodates various battery types, including traditional round Sub-C 6-cell packs and modern LiPo batteries, providing flexibility in power options. To enhance durability, a large urethane bumper is installed at the front, offering protection against impacts and extending the vehicle’s lifespan.

The RS2.0’s drivetrain is designed for optimal balance, utilizing a two-belt system with equal-length front and rear belts. This configuration delivers a stable and responsive driving experience, minimizing disruptions during throttle inputs and allowing for smoother cornering. Both the front and rear drives are equipped with gear differentials, with the rear featuring a sealed, oil-filled differential case. By adjusting the oil viscosity, racers can fine-tune the car’s handling to suit different track conditions. Universal drive shafts maintain consistent power delivery, even when the suspension is active or the wheels are turned at sharp angles. This ensures smooth control, making the RS2.0 user-friendly, even for new racing hobbyists.

The RS2.0’s aluminum short shock conversion compared with standard plastic shocks improves chassis stability and traction during cornering. It helps reduce traction loss under sudden deceleration at the end of straights and during turn-in to tight corners, resulting in smoother, more controlled handling. The precision-machined aluminum shock cylinders provide consistent, low-friction operation, allowing the suspension to absorb both sharp inputs and small surface vibrations more effectively for improved tire contact and grip.

The front and rear shock towers are constructed from 3.5 mm graphite for increased rigidity. Their rigid mounting helps keep the shocks stable under load, allowing the springs and dampers to operate more consistently and effectively absorb impacts.
